On New Years eve I got out of work and I went to pick up some Smashburgers on the way home from work.
First of all I want to say that they are one of the best places I have ever eaten. The people are really friendly and personable and secondly their food is awesome. I normally get the classic smashburgers in the half pound with the smash fries as a side that have a light coating of olive oil with thyme, rosemary and sea salt on them.
So I get there order them and had been sitting down for about 5 minutes when one of the kids comes out and says Victor I am sorry they are going to be slightly longer than normal they started to make 1/3 lb burgers for your order instead of half pound burgers. Its only 3 in the afternoon and I am in no rush and I said oh no worries. Thanks for catching the mistake. Well when they go bring me the burgers for the house, they gave me two coupons for free sandwiches. It was an awesome bonus. That night my wife ordered some food from Chilis, and we went out to the other smashburger to grab a couple more burgers before the new year when we were going meat free again. when we got home and ate it was awesome. I never felt so full in all my life. I ate ribs from chilis with the chipotle honey rub that were perfect. I had the smashed potatoe with bacon on top, I ate a chicken smashburger and I ate another regular smashburger and to top it off, I drank I giant Dr. Pepper. I put in my belly about 8 pounds of food that day and about 6 pounds of soda.
The worst thing about going vegetarian is is not going into smashburger. It is so unlike most of the places you eat where the food is good but the service sucks or the service is great because they know their food sucks.
I might make an exception quarterly instead of waiting clear until my anniversary to go out and get a nice little treat.
It was a really nice idea of my wife to get some ribs. That is the kind of surprise I could handle all the time.

The new classes
We were told that we would be getting a new class for Primary this year. Our new class is the nursery. It is really kind of nice because I get to spend all of the Sabbath with my wife and kids as they are both participating in nursery with us. Yesterday we had six kids and it was pretty nice. I get through sacrament and then, I play with toys, we get to eat snacks and then color pictures and we get to get out at noon so we still have the rest of the day. It really is a good fit for us. I have progressive gotten better places each year at church. The only thing I am waiting to hear is that I have been called to the library. That is if they left us out of nursery it is a pretty good fit and I could handle that for a few years.
Always be your sidekick.
My son has a new habit. Whatever toy he is into at the moment I am called by one name and he is the other. I have been playing Lego Batman on the xbox 360 and he has been watching and saying, "You're Batman-I'm Robin." I smile and say, "Yes" and he happily tells me to "punch the bad guys." When he get out his transformers he says "you're Optimus Prime and I am Bumblebee. Lets kill Megatron." I gladly accept and pick up Optimus and start shooting his cannon at the Megatron across the room. Later on as he comes upstairs in his full Buzz Lightyear costume he says, "hey Woody." I reply "hey Buzz have you seen my boots" he says "no" and I say "good cause there's a snake in my boots."
It has been kind of fun always being a super hero or the main character and my son always wanting to be my sidekick. I think when I was a kid I always thought of myself as the good guy and my dad as the bad guy.
Well we get up to go to church and they just start the sacrament and are getting it passed when my boy says "I love you Batman" out nice and loud. I smile and whisper "I love you too." He says "I love you Batman" again and I smile a little as I start to blush. Then he shouts out "I love you Batman" at this point embarrassed I take him and say in his ear "I love you Robin, can we please not let anyone know our identities and just be able to take the sacrament in peace." He was good for the rest of church but as soon as we got out the back door of the church he said "Carry Me Batman!"
This morning he also didn't want to call me dad or be acknowledged by his first name, he wanted us to still be Batman and Robin. I really can't wait to see which one I will be when I get home tonight.

New Years Eve
My wife got tired and for the first time ever my kids had both fallen asleep before 10 o'clock. I tried to go in and see if my wife wanted to get up before midnight to celebrate but she said she was too tired. I went up stairs to watch teh ball drop and was surprised to see Dick Clark is still alive and hosting the show while obviously being scenile. It looked like they had an energy drink tube connected right into his left arm just to keep him awake long enough to close the show.
After I had set my watch to teh exact time for the year, I went down stairs and thought there will probably be a day that I will have longed to be able to go to bed but instead need to wait up for my teenagers to come home

We let the kids tell us what they wanted and tried to make sure they got everything they told. As my son opened up his transformers and was so excited I thought briefly back to my childhood and remembered when I opened a giant teenage mutant ninja turtle doll. It was one of the best years ever as I got exactly which one I wanted for Christmas. I vowed I would never throw away their toys like my dad did because I left them on the floor. I also put thir toy box right by the tv to help me because its easier to throw it in the toy box right there then it would be to pick it up and take it to the garbage can.
